How is this directory made?

We have lived in Saphan Khwai for more than fifteen years. This is our record of the neighborhood: the places we know, the ones we keep going back to, and the occasional one we would tell you to skip.
Which places make it into the directory?
Honestly, there is no science to it. Everything here is somewhere we know and have been to ourselves. Most places are listed because we like them and would like more people to walk through the door. A few are listed because we think you should save your time and your money.
Does anyone pay to be listed?
No. Nobody pays to appear here, there is no advertising, and there is nothing to buy. If a place is listed, it is because we go there.
Why are there no chains or convenience stores?
Because chains are what make every neighborhood look like every other neighborhood. A convenience store franchise tells you nothing about where you are standing. We are interested in what gives Saphan Khwai its own character, so the directory sticks to the places that could not be anywhere else.
What area does the directory cover?
Roughly 800 metres around BTS Saphan Khwai, or near enough that you would happily walk it from the station. We are not strict about the edges. If somewhere feels like part of the neighborhood, it belongs here.
Why are places that have closed still listed?
Because this is an archive as much as a directory. What stood on a corner before shapes what stands there now, even after it is gone. We are unashamed geeks about how a place became the kind of place it is, so closed entries stay where they are and are simply marked as closed.
Why isn't a place I know listed?
Most likely because we have not got to it yet. This is a labor of love rather than a business, written in our free time, and there is no schedule. If you know somewhere that belongs here, tell us and we will go.
