Code of Ethics
Updated
This is how we hold ourselves to account. If we ever fall short of it, tell us.
We go ourselves
Every place listed here is one we know and have been to ourselves. We would rather leave somewhere out than write about it from a distance.
Nobody pays to be here
We do not accept money, free meals, gifts, or hospitality in exchange for a listing or a kinder write-up. Being in this directory cannot be bought.
No advertising, no affiliate links
Nothing on this site is a paid placement or an affiliate link. What you read is what we would tell a friend.
No stars, no rankings, no reviews
A neighborhood is not a leaderboard. We do not publish star ratings, rankings, or user reviews.
No chains
We leave out chains and convenience store franchises. They make every neighborhood look the same, and we are interested in what makes this one specific.
We write plainly, even when we would not go back
We do not publish star ratings, but we do not pretend every place is wonderful either. Where it is honest to say we would tell you to skip somewhere, we say it.
We correct mistakes quickly
When something is wrong, we fix it as soon as we know. Every page carries the date it was last updated, so you can see when that was.
Closed places stay listed
When a place closes, we mark it closed rather than deleting it. This directory is an archive as much as a guide.
We respect the people we write about
Owners can ask us to correct or remove an entry, and we will act on it. We do not publish anyone's private details.
When a page has been translated
When a text has been translated rather than written in that language, the page says so.
Independence
We are residents writing about our own neighborhood. The site is published by Ulalia Co., Ltd., and no advertiser, business, or other third party has any say over what we write.
